With the constitution of the Republic of Croatia, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia has been established, with the proviso, "fourth power" or "interreligious", with legislative, executive and judicial authority. The Constitutional Court is a special constitutional body that does not belong either to the legislative, executive or judicial authority. As a constitutional body, his position is determined by the basic task, namely by abstract control of laws and bylaws, and by safeguarding constitutional rights and fundamental freedoms through the process of individual constitutional control. The Constitutional Court acts only on the basis of the Constitution and the Constitutional Act, which has the power of the Constitution, is independent of all state authorities and independently allocates funds, determined in the state budget, in accordance with its annual budget and law, for the functioning of the Court's activity. In addition, the internal organization of the Constitutional Court is governed by its own rules of procedure, which is the Constitutional Court itself. The President of the Constitutional Court takes care of the implementation of the Rules of Procedure. The Constitution and the Constitutional Act on the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia also contain other guarantees of the independence of the constitutional judiciary and constitutional judges.
