Abstract
Nakon katastrofalne poplave u svibnju 2014. godine područje županjske Posavine postalo je izuzetno povoljno stanište za razvoj velikog broja komaraca (Jeličić i sur., 2014; Merdić i sur., 2014). Budući da voda nakon poplave i povlačenja u korito rijeke i dalje dugo ostaje u inundacijama, kanalima, depresijama tla, septičkim jamama i mnogim drugim prostorima, stvaraju se idealni uvjeti za aktivaciju legala komaraca (Merdić i sur., 2010; Sudarić Bogojević i sur., 2009). Za potrebe provođenja javnozdravstvenih mjera na navedenom području s krajnjim ciljem smanjenja rizika od pojave i širenja vektorskih bolesti, korisno je bilo prikupiti niz objektivnih informacija o brojnosti, dinamici kretanja i raznolikosti komaraca na terenu. Glavni su ciljevi ovoga rada utvrditi kvantitativni i kvalitativni sastav faune komaraca i sezonsku dinamiku dominantnih vrsta kao i vrste Culex pipiens - potencijalnog prijenosnika virusa Zapadnog Nila (Benić i sur., 2013; Nowotny i sur., 2013). Ostali ciljevi jesu: utvrditi naselja u ţupanjskoj Posavini koja su najugroţenija komarcima i istraţiti potencijalnu prisutnost invanzivnih vrsta komaraca.

After catastrophic flood in May 2014, the territory of Posavina near Županja became an ideal mosquito breeding ground (Jeličić et al., 2014; Merdić et al., 2014). Since water after the flood and receding back to the river bed is still retained in the inundations, canals, ground depressions, septic tanks and many other artificial breeding grounds, that led to perfect conditions for the creation of mosquito breeding habitats (Merdić et al., 2010; Sudarić Bogojević et al., 2009). In order to implement public health measures in that area with the aim of lowering the risk of occurrence and spread of vector diseases, it was necessary to gather objective on-site data regarding the numbers, seasonal dynamics and variety of mosquitoes. The main aim of this thesis is to determine the quantitative and qualitative composition of mosquito fauna and seasonal dynamics of dominant species, with the emphasis on the Culex pipiens species as the potential West Nile virus carrier (Benić et al., 2013; Sudarić Bogojević et al., 2009). Other aims are: determine areas in Posavina near Županja most affected by the mosquitoes, and also examine the potential presence of invasive species of mosquitoes.
