Abstract
Prehrana s niskim udjelom ugljikohidrata uzrokuje brz gubitak tjelesnih masti, pokazala se ključnom u poboljšanju krvnog tlaka, razini glukoze i inzulina u krvi, smanjenju razine triglicerida i smanjenju rizika od pojave ateroskleroze. Međutim, dugotrajna izloženost takvoj prehrani dovodi do nepovoljnih metaboličkih efekata. Povećava stvaranje ketonskih tijela, koja uzrokuju acidozu i pojavu hipocitraturije. Acidoza također potiče mobilizaciju kalcija iz kostiju u krv. Dosadašnja istraživanja pokazala su da prehrana koja sadrži visok udio voća, povrća, žitarica, mahunarki i mliječnih proizvoda rezultira gubitkom kilograma, sigurna je i reducira rizik od pojave kroničnih bolesti.

Low carbohydrate diets causes a rapid loss of body fat, proved to be crucial in improving blood pressure, blood glucose and insulin levels, reduce triglyceride levels and reduce the risk of atherosclerosis. However, long-term exposure to such a diet leads to adverse metabolic effects. Increases the formation of ketone bodies, which cause acidosis and the emergence of hypocitraturia. Acidosis also encourages the mobilization of calcium from bones into the blood. Previous studies have shown that a diet containing a high proportion of fruit, vegetables, grains, legumes and dairy products results in weight loss, is safe and reduces the risk of chronic diseases.
