The term television has long been about television, television programs we watch on them, and television networks broadcasting these programs. Since the TV industry has recorded quite a number of changes over the past decade, it is difficult to precisely define what television actually means today, let alone anticipate how it will look in the next ten years. While television networks continue to look for sustainable business models, the entire TV industry is undergoing massive restructuring, and the future of television is widely discussed in articles and at conferences. This paper deals with the influence of new media on television,the television industry and the end users of this media - viewers. The aim of this paper is to find out whether television will survive the fierce development of new media and platforms to which viewers are increasingly turning and how it will have to change if it wants to survive. Various research show that there is no indication or evidence that television might completely disappear. Instead, television will evolve into a new media that will have new functions and standards and that will be connected to the Internet and smart home appliances. The next generation of television will be at the center of our media consumption, and will become the main media.
