One of the world's biggest problems and the subject of many discussions is poverty. Poverty is partly the result of unfair trade and unfair payment of workers who put in the effort to get a product onto the shelves of retailers. In addition, the problem is child exploitation, i.e. forced child labor and inhumane working conditions. Fairtrade is offered as one of the solutions to the mentioned problems. Fair trade is a concept that fights for the rights of workers in underdeveloped countries and helps them get paid for their work. It also tries to help farmers and entrepreneurs who have difficulties entering large markets. Besides, its advantage is also in environmental protection, socially responsible business and sustainable development. Furthermore, we will explain socially responsible business and sustainable development in detail, but the focus is on Fairtrade. The paper will explain and define fair trade, its historical development, umbrella organizations, principles and standards. Also, we will list some of the fair trade products, the countries where it is most represented, but also what is the situation in Croatia in terms of fair trade and the availability of Fairtrade products. The main objective of this thesis is to explain the importance of fair trade. The purpose of the work is, based on the information obtained through research, to determine consumers' knowledge about fair trade and the shopping habits of these consumers, and, also, to collect their opinions and attitudes regarding fair trade. For the purposes of this thesis, an online survey was conducted via Google survey in a sample of 104 respondents, the results of which will be presented at the end of the thesis.
