Abstract
Cilj: Cilj provedenog istraživanja bio je utvrditi postoji li značajna razlika u koncentraciji cinka u sjemenoj tekućini kod muškaraca s dijagnozom neplodnosti u odnosu na muškarce s normalnim nalazom spermiograma te ukoliko postoji, kako utječe na broj, pokretljivost i morfologiju spermija. Nacrt studije: Istraživanje je provedeno kao cross-sectional studija na Odjelu za kliničku laboratorijsku dijagnostiku KBC Osijek. Ispitanici i metode:  Istraživanje je provedeno na 276 muškaraca s područja Osječko-baranjske županije.  Uzorci sjemene tekućine obrađeni su u skladu s kriterijima SZO-a, a koncetracija cinka određena je spektrofotometrijskom, direktnom kolorimetrijskom metodom bez deproteinizacije na Olympusu AU 680.  Za statističku obradu podataka primijenjeni su Mann Whitney U test, 2 test, Kruskal Wallis test i Spearmanov koeficijent korelacije. Rezultati:  U provedenom istraživanju muškarci s dijagnozom neplodnosti značajno su stariji, imaju značajno niže vrijednosti cinka, manji broj spermija, slabiju pokretljivost te manje morfološki normalnih spermija u odnosu na kontrolnu skupinu.  Prema dobivenim vrijednostima cinka značajno više muškaraca iz skupine s dijagnozom neplodnosti ima razinu cinka ispod referentnih vrijednosti.  U skupini pacijenata s dijagnozom neplodnosti, kod kojih su nađeni spermiji, značajno su više vrijednosti cinka u odnosu na ispitanike kojima je utvrđena azoospermija. Zaključak: Postoji povezanost sniženih razina cinka u sjemenoj tekućini s postavljenom dijagnozom neplodnosti te bi procjena koncentracije cinka mogla biti korisna informacija za predviđanje muškog oplodnog potencijala. Prehrambene se navike ispitanika regionalno razlikuju i neko bi buduće istraživanje moglo postaviti dobre temelje za daljnji pristup liječenju s odgovarajućom terapijom.

Aim: The aim of this research was to compare zinc-concentration in semen of men diagnosed with infertility and men with normal spermiogram in order to determine if there is a significant difference and, if there is one, how it affects the number, mobility and morphology of sperm. Study design: The research was conducted as a cross-sectional research in the Department of clinical laboratory diagnostics of Clinical Hospital Centre Osijek Participants and methods: • There were 276 participants from Osijek-Baranja County included in this research. • Standardized WHO criteria was used in analyzing semen samples. Spectrophotometric, direct colorimetric method without deproteinization on Olympus AU 680 was used to determine Zinc-concentration. • Mann-Whitney U test, 2 test, Kruskal-Wallis test and Spearman’s correlation coefficient were used in statistical data analysis. Results: • The research showed that men with diagnosed infertility are significantly older, have lower zinc-concentration, lower number of sperm, less mobility of sperm and lower number of morphologically normal sperm when compared with the control group. • Significantly higher number of men diagnosed with infertility has a zinc-concentration under the normal referential value. • In the group of men diagnosed with infertility there is a higher level of zinc-concentration than in patients diagnosed with azoospermia. Conclusion: There is a correlation between low zinc-concentration in semen and diagnosed infertility. Thus, the assessment of zinc-concentration could be useful information when determining male fertilizing potential. Eating habits differ regionally for all participants, so future research should set good foundation in further study of appropriate treatment.
