Abstract
Cilj istraživanja: Istražiti u kojoj mjeri urinarna inkotinencija narušava kvalitetu života te istražiti koliko i kako operacijsko liječenje inkontinencije utječe na bolju kvalitetu života.

Quality of life before and after surgical treatment of urinary incontinence Research objective: to examine the extent to which urinary incontinence affects quality of life, as well as to determine how and to which extent surgical procedure as a treatment for urinary incontinence can improve quality of life. Study design: Cross-sectional study was conducted at Clinical Hospital Osijek, Clinic for Gynecology and Obstretics. Respondents and methodology: The respondents in this study were patients admitted to Gynecology and Urology Ward and Urogynecological Outpatient Clinic of Clinic for Gynecology and Obstretics, Clinical Hospital Osijek. The study sample consisted of 25 female patients who had undergone surgical procedure due to static incontinence. The surgery had been performed in Clinic for Gynecology and Obstretics, Clinical Hospital Osijek. The data were collected through a questionnaire consisting of questions related to urinary incontinence in women. By applying various parameters we have reached conclusions about quality of life before and after urinary incontinence surgery in women. A personal interview survey was used. Data related to the respondents’ age, educational level and occupation, menstrual cycle, urinary quality before and after surgery, the influence of incontinence on quality of life (sex life, social life, physical activities), the usage of incontinence products (adult diapers, pads), the history of incontinence in the family, the success rate of surgery. Results: The analysis of the data obtained in the study has led us to a conclusion that all respondents have been able to perform various duties independently after the surgery. They are able to do household chores, attend social events and believe that surgery has improved the quality of their lives. The surgical outcome was positive in all patients, which means that they have either been completely cured or they have experienced a significant relief. Conclusion: Urinary system disorders reduce quality of life in women and pose a public health problem which affects women’s physical and mental health. The conclusion drawn from the entire study is that successful treatment of urinary incontinence significantly improves quality of life of those it affects.
