Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of magnesium sulfate on the incidence of atrial fibrillation. The study included 40 patients who were divided into two control groups. One group received magnesium sulfate. Respondents were cardiac patients who underwent CABG and AVR operations. Patient age, sex, date and type of operation, the concentration of magnesium on the day of arrival, on the day of surgery and the first, second and third day after operation were recorded. It is noted whether the patients received magnesium sulphate or not and whether atrial fibrilation appeared. Statistical analysis was performed by using SPSS 22.0 statistical software (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). Serum magnesium levels and recorded atrial fibrillation were results of this study. There was no correlation with the incidence of atrial fibrillation. There was no effect of magnesium sulfate as a drug that affects the reduction of the occurrence of atrial fibrillation.
