Abstract
U radu su opisana najvažnija matematička dostignuća Egipćana i Babilonaca te je navedeno da se matematika počela razvijati zbog praktičnih ljudskih potreba. Zatim se upoznajemo s njihovim načinom zapisivanja brojeva i brojevnim sustavima kojima su se koristili. Također je kroz brojne primjere prikazano kako su zbrajali, oduzimali, množili i dijelili, te zapisivali razlomke.
Abstract (english)
This master thesis describes the most important mathematical achievements of Egyptians and Babylonians and highlights the fact that mathematics started to develop as a result of practical human needs. In this master thesis we also meet the methods these civilizations used to write the numbers and their number systems. Through many examples, there are described the methods of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division the numbers, as well as writing the fractions.
