Abstract Mnogi ljubitelji stare i vrijedne knjige često spominju važnost knjižnice obitelji Brlić u Slavonskom Brodu.
Abstract (english) Many admirers of old and valuable books often mention the importance of family Brlić´s library in Slavonski Brod. There are some noble families who preserved their hundreds of years old libraries, but none of them had done it with so much passion and devotion like the Brlić family. The history of Brlić family is also the history of the library, the archives and the heritage of this family. All family members, and there were nine generations of the family, were creating the library and the family archives by collecting personal and other documents, an enormous number of books, but some of them, in addition to this also worked hard on preserving and presenting the heritage to the cultural and scientific public. The book heritage outlived many wars and was moved several times in order to be saved. Today all of the librarie´s content is assigned, catalogued and classified by the universal decimal classification. Furthermore, a card catalogue has been posted and all the periodicals have been sorted. Today the Brlić library includes 6120 books, 118 serials, among those are 52 Croatian and 66 foreign language periodicals. The collection includes books written in Croatian as well as books in French, German, Italian, Latin and Slavic languages. Of uttermost importance are the collections of old and rare books from the 16th, 17th and the 18th century, which are accessible to the general public in part. It can be said that family Brlić´s book heritage provides a great amount of information about the political, cultural, religious and economical history, it witnesses the mentality of a certain period and life of a family and is a valuable source of important details from the life of respectable individuals from the time when the books were collected.
