Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
This study examines the quality of soap-operas as a genre, and the quality was investigated by analysis of production, characters, acting, stories and values that are promoted by this genre, as well as by the analysis of attitudes that are cultivated. The author has attempted to prove that the soap-opera is a genre with scarce quality whose primary role is gathering a mass audience for marketing purposes, and that as such it does not deserve entrusted amount of TV time. Not only it does not deserve this time, but given the amount of time in which it is represented, this genre represents a kind of threat to the understanding of social reality, and this is confirmed by numerous studies conducted in the framework of the theory of cultivation.
