Abstract
Izgradnja betonskih kolnika je višegodišnja uobičajena praksa u razvijenim zemljama, poput SAD-a i nekih europskih država. Vrste i načini projektiranja betonskih kolnika su se razvijali s vremenom i sa saznanjima do kojih se došlo primjenom i uporabom betonskih kolnika, pogotovo u uvjetima teškog prometnog opterećenja. Postoji niz prednosti betonskih kolnika nad asfaltnim gledano sa financijskog, sociološkog i ekološkog stajališta. Osim toga u radu su prikazani karakteristike i posebnosti izvođenja betonskih kolnika, dan je osvrt na dosadašnja hrvatska iskustva u tom području te je napravljena poveznica gradnje betonskih kolnika sa održivom gradnjom. Beton je materijal koji je ekološki vrlo prihvatljiv i zahvaljujući intenzivnom razvoju građevinske struke tehnološki superioran nad ostalim materijalima. Betonski kolnici predstavljaju tehničko rješenje koje je u najvećoj mogućoj mjeri usklađeno s principima održivog razvoja.
