Abstract
Područje Republike Hrvatske, kao dio mediteransko-transazijskog pojasa, odlikuje se izraženom potresnom aktivnošću, pri čemu se jaka podrhtavanja tla događaju svakih 20 do 30 godina. Mnoge zgrade projektirane su u skladu s propisanim zahtjevima norme Eurocode 8 za proračun potresno otpornih zgrada, ali još uvijek postoji značajan broj starijih zgrada izgrađenih ne slijedeći nikakve norme. Prema propisima, najdetaljnija potresna ispitivanja propisana su za tzv. zgrade izvan kategorije kojoj pripadaju i školske zgrade. Osnovne škole predstavljaju vrlo bitnu ulogu u razvoju budućih naraštaja, te je zbog toga potrebno izvršiti procjenu potresne oštetljivosti za svaku od 16 škola na području grada Osijeka. Prikazani su osnovni podatci o gradu Osijeku, za čije područje se provodi ispitivanje, te povijesni i konstrukcijski podatci (visina konstrukcije, vrsta konstrukcijskog sustava, površina objekta, godina izgradnje) za svaku od šesnaest školskih zgrada na području grada. Svaki element utječe na samu procjenu potresne oštetljivosti. Procjena je izvršena prema dvjema metodama: koeficijentu oštetljivosti (engl. Damage Ratio, DR) i probabilističkoj metodi matrica vjerojatnosti oštetećenja (engl. Damage probability matrices). Provedenim metodama je utvrđena razina oštećenja na školskim zgradama i procijenjeni su gubitci za različite intenzitete potresa. Procjena uništenosti stambenog fonda provedena je za 52 zgrade, koje čine 16 osnovnih škola. Također, izvršena je procjena ljudskih gubitaka (broj ranjenih i poginulih osoba).

The Croatian territory, as part of the Mediterranean-transasian belt, is characterized by a pronounced earthquake activity, with the strong ground motion occuring every 20 to 30 years. Many buildings are designed in accordance with Eurocode 8 provision for earthquake resistant buildings, but there is still a significant number of older buildings constructed without following any norms. According to the regulations, the most detailed seismic tests are prescribed for so-called ''building without category'' to which they belong and school buildings. Elementary schools represent a very important role in the development of future generations and because of that is necessary to evaluate the seismic vulnerability values for each of the 16 primary schools in the city of Osijek. Basic data of the city of Osijek, as well as the historical and structural data (height of construction, type of structural system, building area, year of construction) for each of the sixteen schools buildings in the city are provided. Each element affects the assessment of seismic vulnerability values. The assessment was carried out using two methods: Damage Ratio (DR) and Damage probability matrix. Implementing these methods, the damage levels as well as estimated losses for the school buildings were assessed for different earthquake intensities An assessment of the devastation of the housing stock was carried for the 16 elementary schools which consists of 52 buildings. Also, an assessment of human losses (number of wounded and killed people).
