Abstract
Svrha diplomskog rada je utvrditi koliko su djeca predškolskoga uzrasta ekološki osviještena, koliko je njihovo znanje o zaštiti okoliša i primjenjuju li ga u praksi te utvrditi koliko su roditelji ispitane djece ekološki osviješteni, koliko je njihovo znanje o zaštiti okoliša i primjenjuju li ga u praksi. Izrađen je na Odsjeku za prirodoslovlje Učiteljskog fakulteta u Osijeku iz predmeta Ekologija za održivi razvoj. Mentor diplomskog rada je izv. prof. dr. sc. Irella Bogut, a sumentor je mr. sc. Željko Popović, profesor visoke škole. Diplomski rad sadrži 57 stranica, 27 slika, 2 tablice, 16 grafikona i 3 priloga. Gospodarenje otpadom je skup svih aktivnosti, odluka i mjera za sprečavanje nastanka otpada, smanjivanje količine otpada i/ili njegova štetnog utjecaja na okoliš. Problem gospodarenja otpadom trenutačno je najaktualniji problem koji traži brzo i učinkovito rješavanje. Ispitivanje sam provela u Predškoli pri OŠ „Ivana Kozarca“ u Nijemcima na uzorku od 20-ero djece, polaznika predškolskog programa u dobi od 6 i 7 godina. Anketni upitnik sam provela na uzorku od 20 roditelja od kojih je 2 bilo muškarca i 18 žena u dobi od 26 do 47 godina. Provjeru dječjeg znanja o otpadu, separaciji otpada i recikliranju sam provela usmenim ispitivanjem (intervjuom) pomoću unaprijed pripremljenih 11 pitanja. Za roditelje sam pripremila anketni upitnik koji se sastojao od 15 pitanja (otvorenog i zatvorenog tipa). Pomoću intervjua sam saznala kako većina djece posjeduje zadovoljavajući broj informacija vezanih uz temu gospodarenja otpadom i očuvanja okoliša.17-ero djece ima neka saznanja o tome što znači otpad, dok 3 djeteta ili ne znaju koje je značenje riječi otpad, ili ne znaju definirati što po njihovom mišljenju znači ta riječ.5-ero djece je izjavilo kako ne zna na koji način nastaje otpad dok je 15-ero odgovorilo na pitanje. Na pitanje Možemo li razvrstavati otpad15-ero djece je ispravno odgovorilo, no ostalih 5 je odgovorilo da ne možemo razvrstavati otpad ili da ne znaju. 10 ispitanika ne zna zašto razvrstavamo otpad, a ostalih 10 imaju neka saznanja zašto razvrstavamo otpad. Na pitanje Kako bi ti razvrstao/la otpad14 ispitanika je dalo odgovor na postavljeno pitanje dok je njih 6 odgovorilo da ne zna. Na pitanje Što je recikliranje 16 ispitanika je odgovorilo,a 4 djeteta ne znaju. 6-ero djece zna čemu služi žuti kontejner, 8-ero djece zna čemu služi plavi kontejner, 7-ero djece zna čemu služi zeleni kontejner a 15-ero djece zna čemu služi sivi kontejner. Na pitanje Što se događa s otpadom nakon što ga ubacimo u kontejnere sam dobila 17 konkretnih odgovora a 3 djeteta su odgovorila da ne znaju. Anketom za roditelje sam saznala kako je njihovo znanje o zaštiti okoliša većinom korektno ali budući da stanuju u sredini koja nema velike mogućnosti za primjenu u praksi (nedostaje spremnika za razvrstavanje otpada; u blizini ne postoji ekološka udruga kojoj bi se mogli pridružiti) svoje znanje ne mogu u potpunosti primijeniti. S polaznicima Predškole provela sam aktivnosti na temu gospodarenja otpadom i recikliranja, te sam održala zajedničku kreativnu radionicu za roditelje i djecu na temu recikliranja.

Parallel abstract (English)
The purpose of the thesis is to determine whether the preschool children and their parents are aware of the environment and its application in practice. The graduation thesis was made at the Department for Natural Sciences at the Faculty of Teacher Education in Osijek in the subject Ecology and Sustainable Development. Supervisor of thesis is assoc. prof. dr. sc. Irella Bogut and co-supervisor mr. Sc. Zeljko Popovic, college professor. Graduation thesis contains 57 pages, 27 illustrations, 2 tables, 16 charts and 3 appendicies. Waste managment ia s set of all activities, decisions and measures for the prevention of waste generation, waste reduction and/or its harmuful impact on the environment. The problem of waste managment is nowdays one of the biggest problems in the world that requires quick and effective solutions. The research was conducted in the preschool kindergarten at the elementary school „Ivan Kozarac“ in Nijemci on a sample of 20 children who were attending preschool programme - age 6 and 7. The questionnaire was conducted on a sample of 20 parents. There were 2 men and 18 women aged 26 to 47 years. I examined the children's knowledge of the waste, waste separation and recycling, by an interview which consisted of 11 questions. For parents, I prepared a questionnaire which consisted of 15 questions (open and closed questions). Interview results showed that most children possess sufficient information related to the topic of waste management and environmental protection. 17 children know the meaning and the definition of the word. 5 children said they did not know how waste is generated while 15 children answered this question correctly. 15 children answered the question Can we sort waste correct, while the other five children said they can not sort waste or they do not know. 10 children did not know why we sort the waste and the other 10 did know anything about the subject. 14 children answered question How would you sort waste, while 6 of them did not know how. Question What is recycling answered 16 children. 4 children did not know the answer to this question. From the total of 20 children, who participated in the research, 6 children know what a yellow container is, 8 children know what a blue container is, 7 children know what a green container is and 15 children know what a grey container is. 17 children gave a correct answer to the question What happens to the waste after it is put into the containers. Only 3 children did not know the answer to this question. The results of parents’ questionnaire showed that they have knowledge of environmental protection, but because of the place of living (missing containers for waste separation; lack of ecological associations to join) they are unable to apply and implement it in practice. Children did activities on waste management and recycling, and I held a joint creative workshop for parents and children on the same subject.
