Abstract
Med i pčelinji proizvodi višestruko su korisni za zdravlje čovjeka i koriste se prvenstveno kao hrana i lijek. Med upotpunjuje ljudsku prehranu i njegovim korištenjem jačamo imunitet i štitimo organizam od bolesti te nam njegova svakodnevna konzumacija omogućuje zdrav i dug život. U pčelinje proizvode osim meda ubrajamo i propolis, cvjetni prah, matičnu mliječ, vosak i pčelinji otrov. Oni sadrže antibakterijska, antibiotička i antianemična svojstva, a matična mliječ sadrži i vrlo vrijedan protutumorski i antimetastatički potencijal. Istraživanje je ispitalo znanje djece mlađe školske dobi o pčelama i medu te njihovim navikama konzumacije meda. Anketa je pokazala da djeca posjeduju zadovoljavajuću količinu znanja o pčelama i medu. Utvrđeno je da više od 80% djece rado jede med, a najčešće ga konzumiraju u čaju, žlicom i na kruhu. Desetina njih ga jede svaki dan. Gotovo 40% njih med jede na tjednoj bazi, a jedna četvrtina na mjesečnoj bazi. Med skoro nikada ne jede četvrtina ispitane djece. Od drugih pčelinjih proizvoda djeca poznaju cvjetni prah, propolis i vosak.

Honey and bee products are useful for human health in multiple ways and they are priorly used as food and medicine. Honey completes human diet and with its usage we strengthen our immunity and protect our organism from disease while its daily intake provides a long and healthy life. Apart from honey, bee products are also propolis, pollen, royal jelly, beeswax, and bee venom. They have antibacterial, antibiotic and antianemic properties, while royal jelly even has very valuable anticancer and antimetastatic potential. The research examined general knowledge of primary-school-age children considering bees and honey and children's honey-eating habits. The survey showed that children possess satisfactory amount of general knowledge about honey and bees. It has been identified that more than 80% of the children enjoy eating honey, and most frequently they drink it in tea, eat it with a spoon or spread it on the bread. One tenth of the children eat honey every day. Almost 40% eat it weekly, while one quarter eat it monthly. One quarter of the tested children almost never eat honey. Considering other bee products children are familiar with pollen, propolis and beeswax.
