Abstract
U hrvatskoj se dječjoj književnosti predodžba djeteta i djetinjstva mijenjala od samog početka dječjeg romana, od djeteta bez identiteta u 19. stoljeću do i individualnog djeteta na kraju 20. stoljeća. U radu je proučavan položaj djeteta te razdoblje djetinjstva i njegova obilježja u suvremenim romanima hrvatske dječje književnosti. Odabrani su naslovi proučavanja Drugi dnevnik Pauline P., Pobuna Pauline P. te Morski dnevnik Pauline P. suvremene autorice Sanje Polak. Među navedenim djelima uočava se međusobna razlika u odnosu na dob glavne junakinje očitovana u njezinom razmišljanju i zaključivanju te u formi Paulininog pisanja imenovanih dnevnika. Lik djevojčice Pauline prikazan je kao autonoman dječji lik koji posjeduje samostalnost i odlučnost koja oblikuje njezino djetinjstvo.

Parallel abstract (English)
In croatian children`s literature, the image of a child and of childhood has been changing since the very beginning of children`s novel, from a child without identitiy in 19th century to individual child in the end of 20th century. The position of the child and the period of childhood and its characteristics in contemporary novels of croatian children`s literature, has been studied in this thesis. Titles that have been chosen for study are Drugi dnevnik Pauline P., Pobuna Pauline P. and Morski dnevnik Pauline P., by contemporary author Sanja Polak. Mutual differences are being noticed, among the stated works, in oppose to the age of the main character which is manifested in her reflections and conclusions and also in form of Paulinas writing of the appointed journals. The character of little girl Paulina is shown as autonomous children`s character which owns independence and determination which shapes her childhood.
