Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
The development of a quality preschool education institution, competent staff and satisfied users requires excellent leadership of the education institution. In order to meet demanding criteria of successful management, a good headmaster needs to possess professional skills as well as certain human characteristics. Leadership theory and style have been changing since 1940s. Contemporary models point out adjustability of individual styles to specific situations and emphasise the importance of the manager’s ability to recognize crucial moments. The research aim of this thesis is to establish whether there is a difference in the leadership style in public and religious kindergartens and how those styles influence the staff. The results have shown that the democratic leadership style is predominant in both types of kindergartens and that preschool education teachers are satisfied by such a management style.
