Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
The aim of this study was to explore prevalence of cyberbullying and harassment and to investigate the association between experiencing cyber-violence and different emotional, behavioral and cognitive consequences. The research was conducted on a sample of N = 279 college students. The results indicate that 24.9% participants experienced cyber-violence in the past year, while 18.28% engaged in cyberbullying. It is shown that the most common forms of cyberbullying are gossiping, mockery and making fun of information posted on the internet. The most frequent consequences of experiencing cyber-violence that participants reported are anger, preoccupation with negative event, unableness to concentrate and moodiness. Furthermore, results show that males are more involved in both experiencing and commiting cyberbullying. The results of hierarchical regression analysis show that cyber-victimization is a positive predictor of different emotional, behavioral and cognitive consequences, while controlling for individuals' depressive and anxious symptoms.
