Abstract
Širokopojasni pristup glavni je način pristupa Internetu. Zbog svojih mnogobrojnih prednosti u potpunosti je zamijenio dial-up pristup Internetu. Najraširenije tehnologije širokopojasnog pristupa su DSL tehnologije (Digital Subscriber Line) koje se dijele na simetrične i asimetrične, pri čemu ta razlika ovisi o brzini slanja i primanja podataka (kod simetričnih, brzine su jednake, dok je kod asimetričnih brzina primanja podataka veća od brzine slanja). Jedna od simetričnih je SHDSL (Symmetrical high-speed digital subscriber Line) koja je razvijena kao zamjena za sve aktualne simetrične DSL tehnologije. Karakteriziraju je prijenosne brzine u rasponu od 192 kbit/s do 2,312 Mbit/s, širok domet, laka instalacija, spektralna kompatibilnost te raznolike mogućnosti primjene. Ova tehnologija koristi modulaciju 16-PAM (engl. Pulse Amplitude Modulation) zajedno s rešetkastim kodiranjem, tzv. TC- PAM.

Broadband access is the main way to access the Internet. Due to its many advantages it has completely replaced dial-up Internet access. The most widespread technology of broadband are DSL technologies (Digital Subscriber Line) that are divided into symmetrical and asymmetrical, where the difference depends upon the speed of uploading and receiving data (for symmetric, speeds are the same, while the asymmetric speed of receiving data is faster than the speed of uploading). One of the symmetric ones is SHDSL (Symmetrical high-speed Digital Subscriber Line) that was developed as a replacement for all current symmetric DSL technologies. It is characterized by transmission speed ranging from 192 kbit/s to 2,312 Mbit/s, a wide range, easy installation, spectral compatibility and a diverse range of applications. This technology uses the modulation 16-PAM (Pulse Amplitude Modulation), together with TC-PAM (Trellis Code Pulse Amplitude Modulation).
