Abstract
Greške i nesreće su sastavni dio života, pa tako i u elektroenergetskom sustavu. Nastoje se izbjeći koliko god je to moguće i smanjiti postotak žrtava i šteta. U ovom radu su navedeni uzroci i posljedice djelovanja električne struje, te je prikazano kako ona zna biti opasna po ljude i njihove živote. Različitim sustavima zaštite ta se opasnost smanjuje na minimum i osigurava bezopasno korištenje električne struje. Dane su vrste sustava uzemljenja i njihove značajke. Također, navedene su primjerene mjere zaštite od direktnog i indirektnog dodira, te zaštitni uređaji koji sprječavaju nastanak većih šteta i oštećenja. Opisan je postupak provedbe zaštitnih mjera i njihove karakteristike, kao i područja primjene u društvu. Dani su i primjeri kako bi se što lakše shvatila uloga i način djelovanja zaštite, te važna potreba za njom.

Mistakes and accidents are parts of a daily life including power system. It is tried to avoid them, as many as possible, and to decrease percentage of victims and damage. There are listed causes and consequences of electric current’s impact in this paper, and it is showed how it can be dangerous to people and their lives. With different systems of protection the danger is decreased to minimum and they provide safe usage of electricity. There are provided different types of systems of grounding and their features. There are also listed appropriate measures of safety from direct and indirect shock, and protection devices that prevent the occurrence of major damages. The procedure of implementation of safety measures and their characteristics is described and also the area of use in society. There are also examples for easier understanding of the role and the way of protection’s actions, and the important need for it.
