Abstract
U ovome završnom radu opisane su hidroelektrane, te poseban uvid dat je u pumpno-akumulacijske hidroelektrane. Opisane su hidroelektrane od povijesti pa do danas, vrste hidroelektrana, uvjeti koji se moraju zadovoljiti prilikom izgradnje hidroelektrane, računski postupci za izračunavanje snage hidroelektrane, sinkronog stroja, turbine i dat je osvrt na značenje hidroelektrana u svijetu. Nakon upoznavanja s hidroelektranama, poseban uvid u pumpno-akumulacijske hidroelektrane je dat kroz primjer RHE Velebit, kao najveće hidroelektrane u Hrvatskoj. Primjer RHE Velebit je detaljno razrađen potkrepljen slikama, shemama, proračunima. Na kraju rada dat je osvrt na moderna dostignuća pumpno-akumulacijskih hidroelektrana.

Parallel abstract (English)
In this final article were described hydro power plants, and special insight is given in pumped storage power plants. It describes the history of hydroelectric power and hydroelectric power today, types of hydro power plants, the conditions that must be met during the construction of hydroelectric power plants, calculation procedures for hydroelectric power calculations, synchronous machine, turbine and includes a review of the significance of hydropower in the world. Following review of the hydroelectric power plants, a special insight into the pumped hydro storage is provided through example RHE Velebit, the largest hydro power plant in Croatia. Example RHE Velebit is worked out in details supported by pictures, diagrams, calculations. At the end of the paper is a review of the achievements of modern pumped-storage hydro plants.
