Abstract	G.711 definira postupke kojim se analogni izvorni signal pretvara u digitalni i obratno, a primjenjuje se već dugo u telekomunikacijskim sustavima. Pulsno kodna modulacija (PCM), kao metoda pretvorbe signala, prilagođena je karakteristikama govornog signala. PCM se odvija u tri osnovna koraka, a to su uzorkovanje, kvantiziranje i kodiranje. Kod uzorkovanja analogni kontinuirani signal se može pretvoriti u slijed vremenski diskretnih impulsa i obrnuto. Kvantiziranje obuhvaća diskretiziranje signala po trenutnoj vrijednosti amplitude. Kodiranje nam pokazuje da se kvantizirani signal pretvara u binarno kodnu grupu, a diskretna vrijednost signala u binarni broj. Primjena G.711 se ne može promatrati bez multipleksiranja u vremenu, plesiokrone i sinkrone digitalne hijerarhije.
Abstract (english)	G.711 defines the procedures by which the original analog signal is converted to digital and vice versa, and applies for a long time in telecommunication systems. Pulse code modulation (PCM) as a method of converting the signal, adapted to the characteristics of the speech signal. PCM takes place in three steps, namely sampling, quantization and coding. When sampling a continuous analog signal can be converted into a sequence of discrete pulses, and vice versa. Quantitation includes discretization signal at the current value of the amplitude. The coding shows that the quantized signal is converted into a binary code group, a discrete value of the signal into a binary number. Application G.711 can not be viewed without time division multiplexing, plesichronous and synchronous digital hierarchy
