Abstract
Glavni problem koji se analizira u ovom diplomskom radu je mogućnost prenošenja video sadržaja visoke rezolucije bez gubitaka podataka prijenosnim kanalom s unaprijed ograničenom uskom pojasnom širinom, a da pri tome ostanu zadovoljeni specifični zahtjevi prijenosa video sadržaja u realnome vremenu. Od dva predložena moguća rješenja ovoga problema: sklopovsko povećanje propusnog opsega prijenosnog kanala te programska kompresija podataka bez gubitaka podataka, ispitana je programska varijanta kompresije podataka prije slanja koristeći Lempel-ZivWelch kompresijski algoritam. Ispitivanje je izvršeno na sveukupno 6 različitih video sadržaja u dvije rezolucije, FHD i 4K UHD. Za svaki od 6 sadržaja preuzete su video sekvence u neobrađenom i prethodno komprimiranom formatu kako bi se mogla ispitati efikasnost kompresije bez gubitaka podataka. Za rukovanje multimedijskim sadržajem kao i algoritmima same kompresije iskorišten je otvoreni izvorni kod programskog alata FFmpeg. Rezultati dobiveni ispitivanjem pokazuju da nije moguće prenositi video sadržaj visoke rezolucije prijenosnim kanalom ograničene pojasne širine od 1 Gbit/s, a da pri tome ostanu zadovoljeni zahtjevi prijenosa video sadržaja u realnome vremenu

Main problem that has been solved with this thesis was to find out if it is possible to transfer ultra high resolution video content through predefined transmission channel bandwith without compromising real time video transmission standards. Out of two proposed solutions regarding above mentioned problem: hardware-wise transmission technology improvement and software implementation of lossless compression method, it was decided to explore possibilities of software implementation of Lempel-Ziv-Welch compression algorithm. Testing was done using 6 different video contents in two different resolutions, FHD and 4K UHD. Regarding LZW compression efficiency testing, for each video content sequences were acquired in raw and compressed format so comparison could be done. FFmpeg's open source code was used for handling multimedia as well as LZW compression routines. Acquired testing results prove that transmission of high resolution video content is not possible through restricted transmission channel bandwith of 1Gbit/s without compromising real time video transmission standards.
