Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
The persisting subject throughout this study is related to security concerns and issues most users of information technologies are facing today. There are two main vectors from which danger is being projected; the state and the developers of such technologies, whose interests are complementary and they often work in pair against the users interests. Moreover, this study provides analysis of cases where states and corporations were victims of their own methods of illegal data collection and manipulation, mostly when being targeted by other states, corporations or individuals in what is popularly referred to as cyber or information warfare. Some of the more popular methods of surveillance, web sovereignty compromising and user data collection which provoke many questions related to security and privacy issues are being named and analyzed in this study. The study also introduces readers to methods employed by the state in order to protect its own web space sovereignty, as well as control and monitor the Internet traffic within and outside of the state. The role of social networks is being highlighted in this work, especially when it comes to affairs of questionable legality such as surveillance and data collection of their users without the users previous consent or knowledge, and the involvement of security and intelligence agencies in such affairs.
