Abstract
Politika, umijeće upravljanja državom ili drugom političkom zajednicom, te svi postupci upravljanja koji se očituju u organiziranim oblicima društvenoga djelovanja i društvenim institucijama putem kojih ljudi teže ostvarivanju svojih društvenih interesa i reguliranju općih poslova zajednice. Politika je prisutna u svakom društvenom odnosu u kojem se izražavaju interesi pojedinca. Svaki pojedinac koji želi doprinijeti društvu kroz svoje političko djelovanje potreban je politički legitimitet. Legitimitet može dobiti jedino putem demokratskih izbora. Političar da bi dobio povjerenje građana za obnašanje vlasti mora jasno i nedvosmisleno prezentirati svoje politički program kojim će doprinijeti boljem i kvalitetnijem životu svakog člana zajednice. Upravo zato se javlja potreba za političkim marketingom kako bi poruka koju šalju političari došla do što većeg broja potencijalnih glasača. Kroz vrijeme načini i sredstva kojim određena poruka putuje su se mijenjali, ali cilj je ostao isti, uvjeriti birača da su baš oni ti koji će zagovarati njihove interese.

Politics, it is the art of governing the state or other political community, and all management procedures which are manifested in organized forms of social action and social institutions through which people seek to achieve their social interests and the regulation of the general affairs of the community. Politics is present in every social relation in which are expressed interests of the individual. Any individual who wants to contribute to society through its political action requires political legitimacy. Legitimacy can be obtained only through democratic elections. To gain the trust of citizens politician must be clear about his political program which will contribute to better quality of life of every member of the community. That is why there is a need for political marketing, to get the message they are sending to the largest possible number of potential voters. Over time, the ways and means by which certain messages travel was changed but the goal remains the same, to convince voters that they are the ones who will advocate their interests.
