Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
Human resource management is one of the most important functions of management. One of the tasks of this function is to try to avoid mobbing and discrimination among employees within the organization. Despite these attempts, mobbing and discrimination are more common in business organizations, not only in the world, but also in the Republic of Croatia. Many often equate the two terms. However, mobbing and discrimination are according to their characteristics very different. Mobbing refers to psychological and physical abuse of employees, whereas discrimination is ignoring, neglecting and harassment of employees due to sexual, religious, national, and racial differences. Mobbing and discrimination are performed by using various hostile, aggressive, and insolent activities. Accordingly, there are different forms of mobbing and discrimination in the organization. Types of mobbing are: emotional, strategic, horizontal and vertical mobbing. Forms of discrimination are: direct and indirect discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, segregation, and more severe forms of discrimination. Mobbing and discrimination carry certain consequences which are more difficult for the employee than for the organization. The consequences of mobbing and discrimination can be resolved through various intervention and prevention. The final paper states four examples of mobbing and discrimination in organizations in the Republic of Croatia and they are analyzed.
