Abstract
Tema diplomskog rada objašnjava način djelovanja franšiznog poslovanja i sve koristi koje ona nudi davateljima i primateljima franšize. Franšiza se počela koristiti još u doba Rimskog carstva kada se njen koncept najviše koristio u smislu slobode, odnosno oslobođenja od zabrane. Time je tada uobičajeno poslovanje ostvarilo novu dimenziju, na način da su se uvidjele prednosti koje franšiza ima, pa se sve više poduzetnika opredijelilo za franšizno poslovanje. Iz godine u godinu povećavao se broj franšiznih jedinica diljem svijeta, no franšiza u Europi i dalje nema veliki utjecaj na ekonomiju. Ističu se dvije najvažnije vrste franšiza, no s vremenom su se pojavile nove vrste s obzirom na prava koje davatelji i primatelji franšize ostvaruju. Ulaganjem u franšizu ostvaruju se prednosti za obje strane, no javljaju se i nedostatci i poteškoće koje mogu nastati tijekom vremena. Stoga je potrebno puno truda, napora, vremena i svjesnog ulaska u franšizno poslovanje kako bi se rizici smanjili što je više moguće. Osim rizika, potrebno je smanjiti i troškove koji nastaju kako bi se ostvarila dobit. U usporedbi s drugim zemljama Europske unije, Hrvatska ima dosta nerazvijenu franšiznu mrežu. Najveći uzrok tome je nedostatak stručnosti o franšizi. Međutim, posljednjih nekoliko godina ulaže se veliki trud u centre i udruge koji nude seminare o franšizi kako bi se svi zainteresirani upoznali s ovim načinom poslovanja. Isto tako, javljaju se mnogi strani i domaći davatelji franšize koji su zainteresirani za otvaranje franšiznih jedinica u zemlji. Najpoznatija franšiza je San Francisco Coffee House koji je još uvijek dobro poznat svima, te je primjer uspješne franšize. Europska unija nudi veliki potencijal za otvaranje franšiznih jedinica diljem zemalja i najveći napredak ostvaruje u prehrambenoj industriji. Tako se veliki broj američkih davatelja franšize odlučuje za otvaranje franšiznih jedinica u europskim zemljama. Europska franšizna federacija, u kojoj se nalazi i Hrvatska udruga za franšizno poslovanje je sastavila Europski etički kodeks franšiznog poslovanja kojeg se pridržavaju sve zemlje davatelja i primatelja franšize. U budućnosti se očekuje pozitivan rast franšiznog poslovanja, kako u Europskoj uniji tako i u Hrvatskoj.

Thesis explains the mode of operation of franchise business and all the benefits it offers providers of franchising and franchisees. The franchise began to be used at the time of the Roman Empire when its concept was used in the sense of freedom or liberation from the prohibition. Then the business achieved a new dimension and all advantages franchise has was recognized, however more and more entrepreneurs wanted to join business in franchising. From year to year, the number of franchise location around the world increased, but franchise in Europe still doesn't have a major impact on economy. There are two most important types of franchises, but eventually new types emerged regard to the rights of providers and franchisees. By investing in franchising both sides achieve the benefits, but there are also disadvantages and difficulties that may arise over time. Therefore, it takes a lot of effort, time and conscious entry into franchising in order to reduce the risks as much as possible. Apart from the risk, it is necessary to reduce the costs that incurred in order to accomplish profit. Compared to other EU countries, Croatia has undeveloped franchise network. The biggest cause for that is the lack of expertise about franchise. However, the past few years country strives great effort in the centres and organizations that offer seminars for all interested people in this kind of business. There are many foreign and domestic providers who are interested fot opening franchise units in the country. The most famous franchise is San Francisco Coffee House, which is still well known to everyone and is example of a successful franchise. The European Union offers great potential to open franchise units across the country. Also, EU the most significant progress have in food industry. Thus, a large number of American franchisors decides to open franchise unit in European countries. The European Franchise Federation, which houses the Croatian Franchise Association has drawn European code of ethics for franchising. In the future we expect positive growth of the franchise business, both in the EU and Croatia.
