Motivation of the employees is a complicated and complex process, as well as one of the most difficult challenges a manager of an organization can face with. If the employees are not motivated and they do not have the will to work, success, although achieved, does not reflect their true abilities and capabilities. Namely, motivation depends on each separate individual, so therefore, it cannot be increased in the same way for all employees. There are various theories describing how, why, and which conditions managers could use to raise motivation in their inferiors. Theories of motivation are divided in two main groups, those being content theories of motivation and process theories of motivation. The main question is how to encourage the employees to give their maximum while performing the given tasks and contribute the accomplishment of the great success, both for themselves and the whole company. Looking back on this issue, there are two strategies that significantly and inevitably help with raising the motivation of each employee. Those strategies include tangible and intangible rewards. As each individual differs from the other in their characteristics, capabilities and abilities, different situations have a different impact on each individual. Therefore, is it necessary for a manager to apply all of their knowledge about about theories and strategies of motivation, take into consideration different competencies of their employees, and act according to them.
