Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
Today’s organization is driven by the multigenerational workforce. For the first time in history, the four generations are working together – traditionalists, baby boomers, generation X and generation Y. Each of these generations has certain characteristics, which can cause a problem because organizations have to find a way to generate jobs and work environment that will bring out the best of each employee and reconcile their differences. Generation Y represents a special challenge because it is tied to a certain stereotype about the behavior and workplace expectations. This paper is focusing on the definition of generation Y and its workplace expectations. The secondary research conducted by Delloitte, which showed the challenges and expectations they have to deal with, has been used. Also, the primary research was conducted on a sample of 250 students of Faculty of Economics in Osijek, in order to test their expectations about the workplace. The results are compared to the results of Deloitte and conclusions are done.
