Abstract
Velike razlike u svjetskoj nejednakosti, životnim standardima i prilikama vidljive su u svim aspektima i načinu života među ljudima. Iz dana u dan disparitet između bogatih i siromašnih se produbljuje i svjedoci smo utjecaja koje ove dvije krajnosti materijalne prirode imaju na ljudski život. Koji su razlozi što sprječavaju siromašne zemlje da dožive napredak i postoje li instrumenti koji izravno utječu na bogatstvo i blagostanje određenog naroda, središnja su pitanja kojim se bavi ovaj diplomski rad. Odgovor na ova pitanja ponudit će se kroz ulogu institucija, ljudskih tvorevina koje se za razliku od prirodnih pojava mogu kontrolirati, te kroz „pravila igre“ koje se postavljaju putem istih. Pobliže će se objasniti pojam institucija, nastanak i vrste te putem primjera iz povijesti utvrditi na koji način one imaju važnu ulogu u kreiranju prosperiteta neke zemlje. Naposljetku, identificirati će se neke od institucija koje pridonose održivom ekonomskom razvoju te će se odgovoriti na pitanje: zašto su razlike u ekonomskoj razvijenosti među zemljama važne za sve zemlje?
Abstract (english)
Great differences in world inequality, standards of living and opportunities are evident in all aspects and lifestyles among people. Day by day, the disparity between rich and poor deepens, and we witness the impact these two extremes of a material nature have on human life. What are the reasons that prevent poor countries from making progress and whether there are instruments that directly affect the wealth and well-being of a particular people are central questions addressed in this thesis. The answer to these questions will be offered through the role of institutions, human creations that, unlike natural phenomena, can be controlled, and through the "rules of the game" that are posed through them. The concept of institutions, origins and types will be explained in more detail and, through examples from history, how they play an important role in creating the prosperity of a country. Finally, some of the institutions that contributes to sustainable economic development will be identified and the answered will be discussed on these question: why are differences in economic development between countries important for all countries?
