Abstract
Informacije i znanje dva su temeljna resursa za uspješno poslovanje. Za donošenje kvalitetnih odluka potrebno je poznavati različite vrste informacija o poslovanju poduzeća i o njegovoj okolini. Informacijska tehnologija, koja predstavlja spregu računala, telekomunikacija i softvera, jedna je od ključnih generičkih tehnologija koja omogućuje učinkovit rad organizacija i njihovu konkurentnost na tržištu. Informacijska tehnologija snažno utječe na poslovanje i način rada i života ljudi. Napredak informacijskih tehnologija čini naš planet sve manjim, a njegove stanovnike sve sličnijima i bližima. Razvoj multinacionalnih korporacija jača svjetsko tržište kojim se intenzivno razmjenjuju znanja, tehnologije, usluge, proizvodi i menadžerski talenti. Snažan utjecaj na promjenu načina poslovanja imao je razvoj informacijske tehnologije, koji pruža tehnološku potporu za uvođenje organizacijskih promjena u poslovanje poduzeća, a primjena elektroničkog poslovanja utjecala je na razvoj potpuno novih modela poslovanja. Jedno od područja primjene ovakvog načina poslovanja, jest bankarski sektor, gdje dolazimo do pojma elektroničkog bankarstva. Internet (elektroničko) bankarstvo, plod je PC bankarstva. Internet bankarstvo koristi Internet kao kanal distribucije po kojim se vrši bankarska aktivnost. Kod Internet bankarstva klijent pristupa svojem računu iz preglednika/softvera kroz koji se pokreće Internet bankarstvo program koji se nalazi na serveru banke, a ne na klijentovom računalu. Osnovni razlozi za ekspanziju bankarskih usluga putem Interneta leže u činjenici da su korisnici Interneta sve upućeniji u prednosti njegova korištenja te u polaganom ali sigurnom nestanku straha od korištenja novih tehnologija. Osim toga, činjenica da su bankarske usluge obavljene putem Interneta i do nekoliko puta jeftinije od onih na šalteru hrvatskih banaka utječe na sve veće zanimanje klijenata za Internet bankarstvo. Također postoje i 100% Internet banke (npr. Advanzia Bank) koje taj svoj software koriste kao jedini kanal distribucije prema korisnicima.

Information and knowledge are key to business effectiveness. In order to make strategically decisions it is necessary to be familiar with different kinds of information about business management and its surroundings. Information and communication technology (ICT), which supposes the interconnection of computers, telecommunications and software, is one of main generic technologies which enables successful organization management and its market competitiveness. It strongly affects business management and our everyday lives. Its development makes the world smaller and its inhabitants closer and more alike. The development of multinational corporations strengthens the global market of knowledge as well as technologies, services, products and manager talents exchange. ICT development had a significant impact on the change of business activity which offers technological support for introduction of organizational changes in business management. On the other hand e-commerce strongly affected development of brand new business models. One of the sectors where this business model is applied is the banking sector in form of e- banking. Internet banking is product of PC banking. Internet banking uses the Internet as the channel of distribution for banking activities. By using e- banking, the client gains access to their account using a web browser which launches Internet banking software which is located on the bank's server, and not on the client's computer. The main reasons for expansion of online banking is connected with the fact that the Internet users are more aware of its advantages, as well as slow but steady decline of fear of new technologies. Moreover, the fact that Internet banking services are much cheaper than those offered at the counter of Croatian banks significantly affects the growing interest in e- banking. Also, there are 100% Internet banks (e.g. Advanzia Bank) which use their software as the only distribution channel with its customers.
