Abstract
Cryphonectria parasitica je askomicetna gljiva koja uzrokuje rak kore pitomog kestena (Castanea sativa Mill.). Osnova za biološku kontrolu ove bolesti je širenje hipovirusa koji smanjuje virulentnost i sporulaciju gljive. Od ukupno 12 izolata gljive C. parasitica prikupljenih na podruĉju Lovrana, odreĊeno je 6 tipova vegetativne kompatibilnosti (VC). Najzastupljeniji VC tipovi su EU-17, EU-1 i EU-15. Unatoĉ velikoj zastupljenosti hipovirulentnih izolata, pitomi kesten, a osobito cijepljeni kesten, lovranski marun i dalje propada. Stoga je pripremljena terapijska pasta od hipovirulentnih izolata L76CR23 (VC tipa 17) i CR23 (VC tipa 1) kojima će se tretirati bolesna stabla kestena. Oĉekuje se da bi nakon tretmana, virus mogao prijeći iz hipovirulentnog u virulentne izolate gljive istog VC tipa te zaustaviti rast raka i pomoći u oporavku zaraženih stabala kestena

Cryphonectria parasitica is the filamentous, ascomycete fungus and the causal agent of chestnut blight. Biological control is based on the spreading of hypovirus that reduces fungal virulence and sporulation. Six vegetative compatibility (VC) types were identified among the 12 isolates sampled from the Lovran area. The most widespread VC types were EU-17, EU-1 and EU-15. Despite the high frequency of hypovirulent isolates, chestnut, especially grafted chestnut, Lovran marron decays. Therefore, the therapeutic paste was prepared from hypovirulent isolates L76CR23 (VC type 17) and CR23 (VC type 1). The paste will be used for treatment of diseased chestnut trees. It can be expected that after the treatment, virus would be transferred form hypovirulent to virulent strains of the fungus of the same VC type and stop the growth of canker, consequently inducing recovery of infected chestnut trees.
