Abstract
Završni rad proučava morfologiju, genomsku strukturu, mehanizam infekcije i učestalost zaraze rotavirusom. Rotavirus je jedan od glavnih uzročnika gastroentritisa u dojenčadi i male djece, a prenosi se oralno-fekalnim putem. Laboratorijska dijagnostika rotavirusa se u Zavodu za javno zdravstvo Osječko-baranjske županije provode rutinski. Iz podataka dobivenih od Zavoda za javno zdravstvo, uočeno je da se glavnina rotavirusnih infekcija događaju u periodu od 1. siječnja do 30. lipnja.

This paper studies the morphology, genomic structure, infection mechanisms and occurence of rotavirus infection. Rotavirus is one of the main causes of gastroentritis in infants and small children, furthermore it is transmitted through oral-fecal contact. Laboratory diagnostic of rotavirus are routinely conducted in the Department for public health of the Osječko-Baranjska county. From the data acquired from the Department for public health, it has been noticed that most rotavirus infections occur in the period from January 1st to June 30th.
