Abstract
Na podrucju današnje Slavonije nekoć se prostiralo Panonsko more. Bilo je sastavni dio Paratethysa, mora koje se protezalo preko srednje i istocne Europe. Paratethys je prvotno bio povezan s oceanom Tethysom, no nakon prekida veze dolazi do postupne desalinizacije i smanjivanja Panonskog mora sve dok od njega nisu ostali samo ostatci. U slojevima neogenskih naslaga na podrucju sjeverne Hrvatske nadeni su brojni fosili. Prema brojnosti makrofosila i mikrofosilnih zajednica ocituje se bogatstvo života u razlicitim životnim sredinama. Prema vrsti fosila mogu se pratiti i promjene uvjeta tadašnjeg okoliša te nam ti fosili svjedoce o postupnoj desalinizaciji Panonskog mora.
Abstract (english)
In the area of today's Slavonia, the Pannonian Sea was once spreaded. It was integral part of Paratethys, the sea that was stretched across the middle and the East Europe. Paratethys was originally connected with the Tethys Ocean, but after the connection was broken, the Panonnian sea gradually diluted, reduced, until there were just remains. In the layers of Neogene sediments, in the area of northern Croatia, numerous fossils were found. The richness of life in different living environments can be seen as the numerous macro- and microfossil communities. According to the type of fossils, changes in conditions of the former environment can be followed, and those fossils testify about gradual desalinization of the Pannonian Sea.
