Abstract
Biljke predstavljaju bogat izvor nutrijenata za mnoge patogene te su stoga razvile sofisticirane mehanizme obrane od istih. Ishod interakcija između biljaka i patogena je značajan i za čovjeka, koji ovisi o biljkama za hranu, osim toga biljke pružaju i značajne neprehrambene proizvode. Razumijevanje načina kojim se biljke brane od raznih patogena nužno je kako bi zaštitili našu opskrbu hranom te kako bi razvili visoko otporne biljne vrste. Stoga su znanstvenici puno pažnje posvetili otkrivanju proteina i gena otpornosti koji sudjeluju u mehanizmima obrane biljaka, a ta saznanja pomažu u sprječavanju negativnih učinaka koji su rezultat djelovanja patogena u biljci.

Plants represent a rich source of nutrients for many pathogens, therefore thay evolved sophisticated mechanisms of resistence against pathogens. The outcome of the interaction between plants and pathogens is important for humans, that depend on plants for food, also plants provide important non-food products. Understanding how plants defend themselves from pathogens is essential in order to protect our food supply and develop highly disease-resistant plant species. Therefore, the scientists devoted much attention to the detection of resistance proteins and genes involved in defense mechanisms of plants, and these findings help to prevent negative effects causing pathogens in plants.
