Abstract
Većina vrsta pripada rodovima Octodrilus,Dendrobaena i Aporrectodea.

Earthworms are one of the most important soil-inhabitant animal groups, strongly affecting the structure, chemical properties and nutrient distribution in soil. Despite their great importance for ecosystems, little has been known about their distribution in Croatia. This work represents the first earthworm checklist in Croatia. On the basis of new information and literature data, we have summarized all data and established the list for the entire teritory of Croatia divided into three biogeographic regions Continental, Alpine and Mediterranean. The list underlines the diversity and zoogeographical position of earthworms. The lumbricids from the entire teritory of Croatia are represented by 68 taxa, belonging to the 17 genera of the family Lumbricidae. The majority of species belong to the genera Octodrilus, Dendrobaena and Aporrectodea. Earthworm species can be allocated to 13 different types of distribution. The endemic species take part with 28% in the total number of the species. The greatest earthworm diversity was recorded in Continental region, as indicated by the value of Shannon and Simpson index (3.28; 0.94).
